January 06, 2017
A belated happy new year,.
With 2017 comes new posts. The format for this year is two new posts on Monday and Friday, with an older re-post on Wednesday.
New Wacky Travel News posts will continue to be posted on Tuesday and Thursday.
I will also start posting more pictures on the Pictures Post.
October 24, 2016
With the ending of my novel, A Deadly Reception, on Wednesday’s I will now be posting the first Woefultourist posts.
Such that, now there will be three Woefultourist posts every week.
January 8, 2016
With the new year came more changes.
The first is that for 2016 I will be revisiting posts instead of publishing new ones. In that way, I should have all new material for 2017.
The second is that there will no longer be a “Poem of the Month” post, or page.
Trying to streamline the blog for everyone involved.
Happy 2016, everyone.
April 14, 2015
Finally got around to some needed housekeeping on the blog.
Hopefully it will look a lot less cluttered at the header section as I made some changes to the Pages.
I have removed all the sitcoms as well as the novel, Peace, Now!. Somewhere in the future, I will make them available as e-books.
I have also consolidated all of my yearly intro’s into one Introduction Page.
That’s all for now, although I will probably have a few more tweaks before I’m happy with the whole look.
December 17, 2014
Today starts the serialization of my novel, A Deadly Reception.
December 10, 2014
The novel, Peace, Now! is complete. Until the end of January 2015, you will be able to read the entire novel on the Peace, Now! Epilogue, Part I, Part II and Part III Pages.
November 9, 2014
Even though Part II of my novel, Peace, Now! is not complete, I have reached the size limit imposed by the website for the Page it is located on.
As a consequence, Chapter XLVI, Part II is actually found on the Novel: Peace, Now!, Part III Page.
Subsequent chapters will follow on the same Page.
Hope this isn’t too confusing.
August 15, 2014
On the anniversary of the music festival that changed the world, I uploaded a new video onto my Video Page; Woodstock – Happy 45th Birthday.
May 8, 2014
Beginning a 10 day woeful journey through Europe with stops in Amsterdam, Brussels and Munich.
May 7, 2014
Part I, of my novel Peace, Now!, is complete. However, because of the size of the document, it couldn’t all fit on the Peace, Now! – Part I Page. So the last chapter of Part I, actually appears as the first chapter of Peace, Now! – Part II Page. Part II begins its first installment on Wed May 14.
December 27, 2013
As the beginning of year 3 commences, there will be a slight change from the current structure of the blog. Starting with January 3 and continuing for the rest of 2014, I will not be publishing new posts. Instead I will be revisiting posts 51 – 155. The posts will be published in the order that they first appeared. Otherwise, the rest of the blog will continue as it exists in its current form.
To get more information on the particulars, check out my Intro to Year 3 – 2014 Page.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2014, and thanks for your continued support.
November 16, 2013
The sitcom pilot, FLY HIGH – “Farewell Elliott” is now complete and can be viewed in its entirety on the Sitcom Pilot Page.
Starting Wed, Nov. 20 I will begin serializing my novel, PEACE, NOW!.
The spy novel is set in the turbulent 1960’s and revolves around two of the main topics of the day: the changing face of rock and roll music; and the Vietnam anti-war movement .
“Madison, Wisconsin. 1968.
On Memorial Day, a bomb explodes in the ROTC Building, at the University of Wisconsin. The powerful blast kills a University police officer. In a letter to the press, the radical group Prometheus claims responsibility for the bombing saying that it is in retaliation for the recent bombing by the U.S. Air Force of the village of Pyong Mai, South Vietnam.
Phil Leonetti, stepson of the murdered officer, is devastated by his death. A world he thought he understood suddenly turns inside out and upside down to the point where he can no longer make any sense of it.
What he does recognize is that nothing will ever be the same.
From that moment forward his life is inexorably changed.
Gone is his idealistic view of existence.
Replaced with a grim sense of reality.
Death changes everything.
So, instead of a bright future as a reporter for one of the most prestigious newspapers in Chicago, Phil takes a job with the counter-culture Chicago Free Press.
The better to achieve the lone goal to which he dedicates his life. Find out who murdered his step-father so that he can exact his own appropriate form of vengeance upon them. To further assist him in his quest, Phil becomes an informant for the FBI. In exchange for relaying information to them regarding the anti-war movement, his FBI handler, Agent O’Reilly, presents him with the latest information they have regarding Prometheus.”

Just posted my latest video on the Video Page: Olympic Ski Jump – Lake Placid, New York.
I will be posting another Lake Placid video shortly.
September 21, 2013
The current spec script, WINGS – “It Fell Off the Truck”, is complete and can be found in all its glory on it’s own Page.
Starting this Wednesday, September 25 I will start a new sitcom. However, this one will be a “pilot” and not a “spec script”.
While the previous sitcoms that I have posted were actually “spec scripts”, this current script is a sitcom “pilot”.
The difference is that a “spec script” is an original episode for an existing program.
Whereas a sitcom “pilot” is an original episode for an original series and serves as an introduction to the characters, situations and location of the new show.
FLY HIGH, revolves around a handful of alumni from tiny Harley College, in Wisconsin, who all find themselves living and working in New York City.
The big city can be a cold, heartless place. So every Thursday, this small group gets together at Pete’s Bar for an alumni gathering to catch up on things, socialize, and just feel a sense of belonging and importance, in the big city.
ANNIE – mid-twenties, single, attractive, intelligent. She is what every man describes as his ideal woman.
TONY – mid-twenties, athletic, single. A guy with a heart of gold. He works in advertising.
MARY – single, thirty-ish. She is somewhat on the ditzy side.
RALPH – mid-thirties. An ex-jock, he’s a bit of a weasel.
LOUISE – late thirties. She is divorced. Very attractive, sophisticated, always dresses to perfection.
September 11, 2013
Just a reminder. All of the Wacky Travel News Posts for the previous month can be found on the Wacky Travel News Archive Page. Currently, all of the posts from August are there for your enjoyment.
September 5, 2013
Posted a new video – Tubing Down the Delaware. A casual float down the Delaware River, New Jersey. At last count I believe that makes 18 videos I have posted on Facebook (all of which can be found on my Videos Page. Feel free to check them out.
July 11, 2013
My first serialized sitcom script – EMPTY NEST – “Tupperware”, is complete and will be listed in its’ entirety on it’s own “page”.
Starting Wed. July 17, I will begin serializing my next spec sitcom script, WINGS – “It Fell Off the Truck.”
Just as in the previous case, the scenes will be serialized with a new scene each week. While only the last 2 scenes will be found on the Home Page, all of the scenes will be posted in sequence on the Spec Sitcom Page.
April 15, 2013
The evolution of Woefultourist.com continues.
The latest step in the process of transitioning from a strictly travel humor site begins on Wed. May 1, with the introduction of a slightly different format. Instead of the usual 3 new posts a week, I will only be doing two (on Monday and Friday).
Wednesdays will now be devoted to the introduction of several spec sitcom scripts which will appear in serialized form.
For those who may be wondering, a “spec“(ulative) script is Hollywood’s way of saying, “a script you write but don’t get paid for”. A “spec” sitcom script is a slightly different animal in that you are writing a new episode, for an existing sitcom.
Why would one take the time and energy to write a spec script? Because in Hollywood, as an unknown writer, the only way to get your foot in the door is by selling a script. Any script. Unfortunately, you can’t sell a script without an agent, but of course you can’t get an agent unless you’ve already sold a script. I just love Catch-22’s, don’t you!
Nevertheless, Hollywood tries to convince unknown writers that if you first write a couple of spec scripts you can then submit those to an agent who will gladly read them and if they like them will jump at the prospect of representing you.
This is a lie, of course, but starving artists are inevitable optimists who will always ignore the odds and believe that they are that one in ten million which the odds gods will favor.
Then after a while reality sets in and you find yourself wondering what the heck you’re going to do with all of those spec sitcom scripts you wrote.
For me the answer is post them on the website.
So that’s what I will be doing, posting one scene per week, both on the Home Page as well as the new Sitcom Page. The Home Page will only have the last two scenes, while the Sitcom Page will have every scene that has been posted in sequence.
Once an entire sitcom has been serialized in that fashion, I will then start another one.
December 21, 2012
When I began WOEFULTOURIST.COM it was with two goals in mind.
First, to have some fun skewering the travel and tourism industry.
Second, to achieve a certain comfort level in running my own blog/website. Because while I was certainly not a newbie when it came to working with computers, I was when it came to e-publishing.
Which of course begs the question, “Why would I want to run your own website?”.
Unfortunately, both the publishing and entertainment industries have for decades gone out of their way to keep new talent out. Taking the attitude that, “We only deal with people who are already successful (or a celebrity). If you ever become one of those, feel free to give us a call and maybe we’ll talk.”
But with the advent of the internet, things changed a bit. While you have no guarantee of success, at least , now, the internet provides writers with the opportunity to have their material published and seen by the public.
That is of course if you can figure out how to setup and run your own website. And frankly, nothing beats actual experience – learning by doing.
Which meant that I needed a project to help me get things started.
Which brings me back to WOEFULTOURIST.COM.
I had never intended for it to be an end in and unto itself. Rather, I viewed it as a means to an end.
A short term project (no more than two years) that would eventually evolve into a website that allowed me to publish any, or all of my work (poems, plays, screenplays, novels, …)
So as I begin the second, and last, year of WOEFULTOURIST.COM I will slowly be adding material that has nothing absolutely nothing to do with the travel and tourism industry at all, but instead provides me an opportunity to showcase some of my literary talent.
My first small step will be to start a Poem of the Month Page to the website. Now before you start questioning my masculinity, or accuse me of spending too much time keeping in touch with my feminine side, I would like to point out one very important fact. Namely that prior to the 1960’s being a poet meant being a notorious drunkard and womanizer.
So it is in that tradition of “pre-1960’s poet” that I will be adding one poem a month, hopefully on the first of each month.
And while I can’t promise that there won’t be some romantic “lovey-dovey” stuff, you don’t have to worry, there will be enough humor and out and sexual innuendo to make it all worthwhile.

Published my first eBook, “Woefultourist.com – the first 50 travel blogs” on smashwords. To check out the book, go to the eBook Page and click on the link. You can view the first 15% without buying. Unfortunately, due to the size of the file, I was unable to include pictures with the posts. However, I created an eBook Pictures Page which includes the 50 pictures that corresponded with the first 50 posts.

I removed the Older TV Trivia Page and am not sure as to what I will be replacing it with. Nothing in the short term. I recently returned from a trip to Key West and will be putting posts as well as videos on the blog in the very near future. Posted a few Key West pictures on the Pictures Page. Enjoy.
August 19, 2012
This week marks the last Older TV Trivia Page. In order to go out with a bang, I have included a ten part, cartoon question as the last hurrah. The answers will appear on Labor Day. Enjoy.
August 5, 2012
The Quiz Page is no more. I am also considering removing the TV Trivia Quiz Page as well. I will let you know by the end of the month. Otherwise, new posts, new pictures and much silliness remains.
June 9, 2012
I decided to end the Quiz Page. I will leave the current page “up” for the rest of the month and will then remove it. Additionally, instead of leaving the entire Wacky Travel News archive on the blog, I will only have the previous month’s posts available for viewing. Similarly, the home page will now only have the last 5 posts, instead of the 10 that used to be available. Finally, there are now 7 videos on the Video Page, with more to come.
April 14, 2012
Added some new photos, so feel free to check them out. Plus, my latest video – Revel Casino, Atlantic City (exterior) is now on the Video Page. Also added a new quiz. Plus, there’s a new tv trivia question. I’m also on Facebook now so feel free to check the woefultourist fan page, as well as my personal page at Uke Kowaluk. As always, enjoy the ride.
Apr. 1, 2012
No joke, I updated this weeks tv trivia question and added a few pictures to the Picture Page – The Pieta, Bullring in Spain and The Rock of Gibraltar.
Enjoy the ride!
Mar 24, 2012
I uploaded my first video, St. Patrick’s Parade NYC,. 2012. It is located on the new Video Page. I anticipate adding videos periodically both here and on YouTube. Next week, all new posts.
Mar. 18, 2012
This week I will be re-visiting 3 posts from last month – KISSING THE BLARNEY STONE; SHOULD I LEARN THE LOCAL LANGUAGE; and SECRET GOVERNMENT NUCLEAR TEST FACILITIES – LAKE TAHOE.
As always, there will be 2 new WACKY TRAVEL NEWS posts this week.
Enjoy the ride!
Mar. 10, 2012
Starting this week, I will be updating the Quiz Page every other week, instead of every week.
Happy St. Paddy’s Day.
Enjoy the ride!
Feb. 25, 2012
Just as an FYI, next week has all new posts. The Quiz Page and Older TV Trivia Page have also been updated.
Enjoy the ride!
Feb. 11, 2012
As you may have noticed, the Home Page only includes the last 10 posts.
So starting this month (and continuing every subsequent month) the 4th full week of the month will be devoted to re-visiting blogs from the previous month – i.e. there won’t be new posts the 4th week of the month.
I will, however, have brand new Wacky Travel News posts every week including the 4th week.
Just to make matters a bit more confusing, Mardi Gras falls on the 4th full week of the month this year. So a new Mardi Gras post will be available on Friday, Feb, 17, 5 days before the actual holiday.
If you have any requests for older posts to re-visit, feel free to email me. I will pick 3 from the following: Eiffel Tower; Airport Screening; The Pickle – London; Airline Food; Northern California Drivers; Ancient Cultures; Checkpoint Charlie – Berlin; NBA Christmas; Words and Beer – New Orleans.
The Quiz Page, Older TV Trivia Page and Picture Page have all been updated.
That’s all for now. Enjoy the ride!
Feb 4, 2012
No major changes to report. Pretty happy with the Pages as they currently exist. Also worked out a comfortable routine for getting new Posts updated on the Home Page. New Quiz added today as well as the weekly update on the Older TV Trivia Page.
That’s all for now.
Enjoy the ride!
Jan. 22, 2012
More minor tweaking of the site. The, Out Of This World posts on Tue and Thurs are now the Wacky Travel News posts. They will still appear on Tue and Thurs.
Additionally, I have added a Wacky Travel News Page which appears in the header with the other pages. The Wacky Travel News Page will be the archive for all the previous Wacky Travel News posts. That way, only the two latest Wacky Travel News posts will appear at any given time on the Home Page.
That’s all for now.
Enjoy the ride!
Jan. 14, 2012
I have made a few changes to the blog, which I hope will enhance your viewing experience.
Instead of having a separate weekly quiz post, I will be updating them, weekly, on the “Quiz Page”.
Taking the place of the Tue “Quiz Post” will be a second installment of “Out Of This World”. In other words, I will have new travel posts on M/W/F, while on Tu/Th I will have new “Out Of This World” posts.
Finally, I have a new page devoted solely to Older TV Trivia.
Enjoy the ride!
